Additional Buffalo Sabres Info

The Buffalo Sabres are a professional ice hockey team based in Buffalo, New York, and they compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference. The team was established in 1970 when the league expanded to 14 teams, and they have played their home games at KeyBank Center since 1996. The Sabres made their first postseason appearance in 1972-73 behind the play of "the French Connection," a line featuring three Quebec-born stars: center Gilbert Perreault, left wing Rick Martin, and right wing René Robert. The French Connection led Buffalo to a division championship in 1974-75, and the team advanced to the Stanley Cup finals in just its fifth season of existence, where it lost to the defending-champion Philadelphia Flyers. In recent years, the Sabres have struggled to make the playoffs, and they have had organizational turmoil, wasted assets, and a growing revolution among the fans.
