Posted 6/18/2009
The 39 Steps, a play adapted from the 1915 novel by John Buchan and 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock, will be presented at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Ga., the Gammage Auditorium in Tempe, Ariz., Helen Hayes Theatre in New York, N.Y., the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas, the Overture Center in Madison, Wis., the Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, N.Y., and Whitney Hall in Louisville, K.Y. until April 2010.

The 39 Steps is a mixture of Hitchcock, Monty Python, spies, and a dash of romance—a fast-paced thrilling comedy for a wide audience.

In The 39 Steps, a man with a boring life meets a woman who has a thick accent and claims to be a spy. After taking her home, she is murdered and an organization who calls themselves The 39 Steps has found the man and embarks on a nationwide manhunt with an amazing ending!

The play has won numerous awards including the Oliver Award for Best Comedy in 2007, the What's On Stage Award for Best Comedy in 2007, the 2008 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience and Outstanding Lighting Design, as well as two Tony Awards on June 15, 2008 for Best Lighting and Sound Design.
