The award-winning musical Cats is in theaters throughout the U.S. until well throughout 2010. Cats originally began in 1981 based off a T.S. Eliot book called "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats."

The two-act musical first opened in London's West End Theater in 1981 before going to Broadway in 1982. Since then, it has won numerous awards, including the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony Award for Best Musical. In total, it has been performed around the world and translated into more than 20 languages.

The play focuses on the Jellicle tribe, a pack of cats with varying personalities. There's Jennyanyspots, a grumpy old cat that puts cockroaches and mice to work at night; Rum Tum Tugger, the ladies cat identifiable by his wild mane; Grizabella, who used to be the belle of the ball, but now just wants acceptance; Mr. Mistoffelees, the magical tom cat, and more.

The play takes part on the night when Old Deuteronomy is scheduled to choose a cat to be given a new life on the Heaviside Layer. But what happens when the Jellicles' worst enemy Macavity the mystery cat captures Mr. Mistoffelees?
