Avenue Q Tickets

Hit musical "Avenue Q" will be featured in a number of venues over the next year, including a 43-show run from June 26th through December 7th at the Golden Theatre in New York City.

The musical is an adult-themed Sesame Street parody that features puppets, mostly operated by actors on stage. It includes musical performances from the live characters and puppets, as well as short animated video clips.

The show is set upon the backdrop of New York City, and features characters blatantly reminiscent of Sesame Street - roommates Rod and Nicky are versions of Bert and Ernie, Trekkie Monster copies Cookie Monster, and Kate Monster is based on Prairie Dawn. A variety of other entertaining characters are also featured, including The Bad Idea Bears, Lucy the Slut, Gary Coleman and Newcomer. While their names may seem juvenile, they deal with adult issues - a major theme is a search for "purpose."

The musical was developed at the 2002 National Music Theatre Conference in Connecticut, and it debuted on Broadway in July of 2003. It holds the title of 21st longest-running show in Broadway history, and it has spawned a number of tours throughout the world.

Avenue Q has scored a number of Tony awards, including "Best Musical," "Best Book" and "Best Original Score."
