A Streetcar Named Desire Tickets

Award winning musical "Streetcar Named Desire" is back for performances at the Bam Harvey Theater in Brooklyn, N.Y.; the Brooklyn Academy of Music; and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Actress Cate Blanchett, who has also played in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," is one of three stars in "Streetcar Named Desire."

The New York Times is taken with her performance: "...how often do you get to watch an actress of such virtuosity pulling out every stop of her instrument and then some?"

The play features Blanche DuBois (Blanchett), an aging Southern belle who struggles to balance her hysteria. Stanley (Joel Edgerton) portrays a remorseless monster and Stella (Robin McLeavy) portrays her conflicted sister. The play runs 145 minutes with intermission.

The play was written in 1947 by American playwright Tennessee Williams, who received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the piece. In 1951, it was also turned into a film, which won several awards.
