Earthquakes 2009 Season Preview
Posted 7/26/2009
The San Jose Earthquakes are currently 3-9-4 and sitting in last place in the Western Conference.
They have just 13 points on the season, which puts them just above the New York Red Bulls, who have the worst record in the entire MLS.
The team's minus 14 goal differential is also the second worst in the MLS. The Red Bulls sport a minus 17 differential.
It is worth noting that the Western Conference is much stronger than its counterpart in the East, but it's still be an ugly season for the Earthquakes.
The team plays its home games at the Oakland Coliseum, so travel is involved to virtually every contest
Ryan Johnson leads the club with six goals while Arturo Alvarez has found the back of the net five times.
San Jose went an incredible 18-4-10 during their inaugural season back in 2005 but has not had a winning season since that time.
Needless to say, that drought will continue this year unless a minor miracle somehow occurs.
