Colorado Rapids 2009 Season Update
Posted 7/19/2009
The Colorado Rapids are currenty 6-6-4 and sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference.
The Rapids have 24 points, which would have them right in the thick of things if they were in the Eastern Conference.
Instead, they find themselves seven points behind the conference-leading Houston Dynamo and four points behind the Seattle Sounders FC.
Still, the Rapids finished three games below .500 last year and look to be much improved this season.
They have not had a winning season in franchise history, as a 13-13-6 record back in 2005 is the closest they have come.
Conor Casey leads the team with eight goals while Omar Cummings has found the back of the net six times.
Colorado remarkably has not recorded a red card this season, although that might mean they lack a little aggressiveness on the defensive end.
The Rapids have the look of a playoff team, but they will be definitley be challenged to reach the postseason for the first time in their history.
