2011 Big 12 Tournament Preview
Posted 3/7/2011
The Big 12 tournament is sure to be one of the most competitive in recent memory, and it features two top teams potentially fighting for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Kansas and Texas are two of the top teams in the country, but it's unlikely that both can earn No. 1 seeds in the NCAA tournament. That means the winner of the Big 12 tournament could have the advantage when the NCAA selection committee hands out the seeds.
The Jayhawks managed to come away with the Big 12 regular season title, but the Longhorns won't go away quietly. Look for Texas to rebound from their bumpy end to the regular season and try to get even with Kansas.
While Kansas and Texas are playing well, Kansas State might be the hottest team in the country. Jacob Pullen has elevated not only his level of play, but the entire team. They finally look like the Final Four contender that everyone predicted they would be before the start of the season.
Nebraska and Colorado are two potential darkhorses in the tournament. Both teams are in need of more victories to secure NCAA tournament bids because they are squarely on the bubble at the moment.
The Buffaloes are a dangerous team because they can get hot in a hurry. When Colorado is able to knock down outside shots, their confidence soars and they become a very tough team to beat.
