Atlanta Thrashers 09-10 Season Wrap Up The Atlanta Thrashers battled all the way to the end of the season but came up a little short of a postseason berth.

The team is obviously very disappointed, but also encouraged at the same time at the progress made from last season.

They did finish the season on a high note, shutting out the high-powered Pittsburgh Penguins for a victory.

Atlanta played in the most one-goal games in the entire league this season, something that could have certainly swayed their playoff chances. They played in 45 one-goal games, yet won just 17 of them.

Those close losses have to give the team reassurance and confidence heading into next season that they are very much on the verge of becoming a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference.

Atlanta gave up the most goals in the NHL last season, and this year gave up slightly less. Five other teams gave up more goals than the Thrashers this year, so there are certainly signs of improvement.
