Toronto Maple Leafs 2010-11 Season Preview
Posted 9/28/2010
The Toronto Maple Leafs were the absolute worst team in the Eastern Conference last year, and there is nothing to indicate this team is ready to take a big step foward during the 2010-2011 season.
It's definitely a sad situation and a shame for the NHL, because the Maple Leafs have some of the most intelligent, passionate fans in all of hockey. If they were a Cup contender, it would do wonders for the sport.
Toronto would really benefit from some phenomenal goaltender play.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere simply hasn't been the same goalie ever since that one incredible season and playoff run he had with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
He only played in 15 games last year, with Jonas Gustavsson getting the majority of the starts. The Maple Leafs could have a respectable group of defenders, so it's important the goalies aren't letting up easy scores.
The offense is still very much a work in progress. Phil Kessel is their top scoring threat while Tomas Kaberle is really effective at setting up his teammates, but there is very little around them to put fear in opponents.
It's going to be another long season for Maple Leafs fans, but hopefully there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
