Toronto Maple Leafs 2011-12 Mid-Season Review
Posted 2/3/2012
The Toronto Maple Leafs haven't made the playoffs since 2004 but are making a legitimate push to change all of that after a strong first half to the season.
The Maple Leafs enter the second half of the year as one of the most intriguing teams in the league because of their long postseason draught, something that has depressed diehard Canadian hockey fans for many years.
Toronto would not be in the playoffs if they began today, but they are the only team in the entire NHL that can make that claim while also having a positive goal differential. It's not like many of the teams ahead of them in the race for the last few postseason spots are setting the world in fire, so a playoff berth could be there for the taking.
It's always great to have as many teams as possible from north of the border in the playoffs because of the great passion that Canada has for its hockey. Look for the Maple Leafs to make a strong second-half push and claim one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
