St Louis Blues 2011-12 Season Preview The St. Louis Blues had high hopes heading into last season, but instead saw some regression in their goaltending play and ultimately ended up missing out on postseason play.

St. Louis hopes that the small step backward was just the precursor to a big leap forward this year, something that often happens with young teams in professional sports.

Jaroslav Halak saw his save percentage back closer to 90 percent last year, and that can certainly account for part of the team's disappointment in its final position in teh Western Conference.

Part of the problem is that St. Louis is a very young team, and with that generally comes inconsistency. There is certainly plenty of talent on the ice, but bringing it together consistently is another story.

St. Louis looks like a team that should show some improvement this year, but making the playoffs in the competitive Western Conference still seems like a bit of a reach. They still seem like they are a couple of players away.
