Pittsburgh Penguins 2010-11 Season Preview
Posted 9/28/2010
The Pittsburgh Penguins were considered one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup and defend their title last year, but they found themselves knocked out in the Eastern Conference Finals by a red-hot Canadiens team.
One thing that should spark even more excitement around the organization is their move into a new arena. The Penguins have finished playing in the Igloo and will now get to enjoy all of the luxuries of a state-of-the-art arena.
Forward Sidney Crosby is always in the debate of the best players in the NHL. It often comes down to personal preference as to whether Crosby or Washington's Alexander Ovechkin wears the crown of league's top player.
Crosby doesn't bring the flashy plays to hockey, but it could be an example where substance trumps style. No one is more effective than Crosby at planting themselves in front of the goal and cleaning up the loose trash.
The most dangerous part of Pittsburgh's team is that Crosby has an equal as a teammate, something no other club can boast. Many actually believe that Evgeni Malkin is even better than Crosby, which is a scary thought.
Pittsburgh failed to defend their Stanley Cup title last year, but anything short of another championship would be a disappointment in 2010-2011.
