The Pittsburgh Penguins overcame plenty of doubters, numerous obstacles and mutiple deficits to the Detroit Red Wings in the Finals to take home the Stanley Cup.
While Sidney Crosby virtually disappeared in the Stanley Cup Finals, Evgeni Malkin showed why some consider him to actually be the best player on his team.
Malkin won the Finals Most Valuable Player award in helping the Penguins to a dramatic, 2-1 victory over the Red Wings in Game 7 of one of the most exciting series ever!
The Penguins were able to overcome numerous injuries, inconsistent play during the regular season and a midseason coaching change to finally bring home the Stanley Cup to a city starving for a championship in hockey.
