Pittsburgh Penguins 2011-12 Mid-Season Review
Posted 2/3/2012
The Pittsburgh Penguins are hanging tough in the Eastern Conference playoff race and appear to be a serious postseason contender despite a ridiculous number of injuries.

It wasn't that long ago that the Penguins were sitting on the outside looking in when it came to the playoffs, and there was talk that the team might scrap the season and start trading away players with the future in mind. The team has responded to those rumors by crawling back into the playoffs if they were to start today.

The Penguins have overcome a huge rash of injuries, with their biggest concern being star Sidney Crosby. The forward is still dealing with concussion symptoms and it was recently discovered that he had previously broken his neck.

While it looks unlikely that Crosby will return this season, it seems that the Penguins have found a winning formula that should at least make them a playoff team.
