Pittsburgh Penguins 2010-11 Mid-Season Review
Posted 1/31/2011
The Pittsburgh Penguins were knocked off in last year's playoffs and have come back looking to once again hoist the Stanley Cup.
The first half of the season, which happens to be their first in the new Consol Energy Center, has been rocky at times. The Penguins have managed to stick close to Atlantic Division leader Philadelphia to mount a second-half charge.
Star Sidney Crosby had a ridiculous stretch of 26 straight games with a point, but he has also missed some time with injuries. Without Crosby in the lineup, the Penguins are a significantly different team.
Despite the missed time, Crosby still leads the team in both goals and assists. The team has been exercising caution with Crosby lately after he suffered a concussion.
Chris Letang and Evgeni Malkin have also played well thus far. Marc Andre-Fluery and backup Brent Johnson have also played very well, but Crosby's absence has produced poor results.
While the Penguins have played unevenly at times, expect that they will make their usual push for the Stanley Cup.
