New York Rangers 09-10 Season Wrap Up
Posted 4/21/2010
The New York Rangers came up just a couple of points short of reaching the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Rangers were very disappointed about coming up short of the playoffs because they played so well down the stretch and really starting coming together as a team.
It also hurts from the standpoint that New York reached the playoffs last year and pushed the Washington Capitals to the brink of elimination.
Head coach John Tortorella is already mapping out the team's future, saying he wants to get younger, improve the character in the locker room and get rid of players not buying into his style.
He made bold statements that he wasn't crazy about the construction of the guys in the locker room, but stopped short of blaming the veterans, saying the core guys weren't the problem.
The Rangers have an outstanding young goalie in Henrik Lundqvist and will make it a priority to find a quality backup in the offseason who can give him more rest next year.
