New York Islanders 09-10 Season Wrap Up
Posted 4/21/2010
The New York Islanders showed signs of promise and life this year, but they still couldn't manage to sneak into the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Islanders finished in dead last in the Atlantic Division, but finished about a few teams in terms of total points.
The goaltending situation remains unsettled with Dwayne Roloson getting most of the starts but Martin Biron seeing significant action. Neither has a very good goals against average, and Roloson has only a slightly better save percentage.
Until New York can figure out the goaltending situation, the team is likely to continue its struggles, especially if they have any visions of future playoff success.
Youth is plentiful for the Islanders, but they do have some veteran leadership in the form of Doug Weight and Brendan Witt.
The team hopes that a trip to the postseason will be in the cards for next season, which will allow them to experience playoff hockey and realize the hard work and committment it will take to win the Stanley Cup.
