New Jersey Devils

News and Information
The New Jersey Devils continue to churn out winning seasons as they currently sit in first place in the Atlanta Division and tied with the Washington Capitals for the second seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

One reason why the Devils have been so successful this year has been their play on the road, where they are 18-8-1. They have been very hot of late, having won 13 of their past 16 games.

New Jersey recently showed just how good they can be, beating the Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks. Those two teams are considered the best in the Eastern and Western Conferences, respectively.

What has made their play all the more impressive is that it has been without goalie Martin Brodeur, who is on injured reserve after undergoing left elbow surgery.

Scott Clemmensen has taken over for Brodeur and the team has barely missed a beat in the net. While he isn't quite sporting Brodeur's 2.16 goals against average, Clemmensen's is a not so shabby 2.35.

Backup Kevin Weekes has been very solid too, following closely behind Clemmensen with a 2.37 goals against average.

The key will be how Clemmensen and company are able to fare in the playoffs when everything is on the line and the pressure really begins to build. Brodeur thrived in that playoff atmosphere, which certainly isn't for everyone.

Zach Parise is leading the team with 69 points, including 34 goals. Parise has scored 11 of those goals on the power play. Parise is one of the youngest players on the team and has injected some much-needed moxie into the Devils.

Patrik Elias, one of the holdovers from the glory days, is still holding strong. He leads the team with 41 assists and is also the second leading scorer with 64 points. Jamie Langenbrunner is holding his own as well with 49 points, good enough for third best on the team.

The Devils have plenty of playoff experience from past Stanley Cup wins and deep playoff runs, so that won't be an issue when it comes to postseason play.
