As many as 13 players from this year's team are expected to be guys who were drafted and brought up through the Nashville farm system, a testament to the organization's drafting and development skills.

It's also a good way to save money on salary (at least initially) and to build great team chemistry. When guys have played with each other for a few years, it makes it easier for everyone to mesh together.

The Predators have reached the postseason five of the last six seasons, but it's time they start actually making some serious noise once they get into the playoffs.

Fans love to cheer for a playoff team, but it's become an expectation these days in Nashville. It's not enough to reach the postseason anymore, and a Stanley Cup push is what the fans really crave.

All five postseason trips have resulted in first round elimination, so winning the Stanley Cup is more of a dream than a realistic goal.
Instead, the Predators would do well to break through this year and simply get out of the first round of the playoffs.
