Anaheim Ducks 2011 Playoffs Preview
Posted 4/12/2011
The Anaheim Ducks secured the fourth seed in the Western Conference and will take on the Nashville Predators in the first round.
It is the first time that the Ducks will face the Predators in the playoffs, and it's a game that features two teams with completely different styles of hockey.
The Ducks struggled against the Predators during the season, dropping three of their four meetings against them. However, Anaheim comes into the playoffs as one of the hottest teams in the league.
It wasn't all that long ago that Anaheim sat in 11th place in the Western Conference, so it took some kind of late season run to leap all the way up to fourth. The team has essentially been in playoff mode for more than a month, knowing they had to keep winning just to get into the postseason.
The Ducks are one of the top offensive teams in the Western Conference. It will be interesting to see if their offense can win out against Nashville's defensive-minded club.
Corey Perry is one of the best in the business and a Hart Trophy candidate. He was the only player in the league to score 50 goals this season, so he could really do some damage against Nashville.
Anaheim has been really hot of late, but even if they get past Nashville, it's hard to see them advancing any further with top seed Vancouver likely waiting in the wings.
