Florida Panthers 09-10 Season Wrap Up
Posted 4/21/2010
The Florida Panthers finished dead-last in the Southeast Division, were the second-worst team in the Eastern Conference and third-worst in the entire NHL.
General manager Randy Sexton has made it clear that the current team as constructed is not what they want and is by no means a final product. He plans on continuing to tweak the roster until it is set up the way he wants.
It's been quite awhile since the Panthers reached the playoffs, nine seasons to be exact, but at least there is some optimism with the third overall pick in the NHL Draft.
Florida has mediocre goaltending and lacks offensive firepower, which is not a good combination for a team looking to get back to the postseason.
The team has already made it known that goalie Tomas Vokoun will be shopped in the offseason, as could other veterans.
Florida's mantra and goal is to get bigger, faster, and stronger for next year. Even if they accomplish that goal, it's hard to see them making a big enough leap to reach the postseason.
