Edmonton Oilers 2011-12 Mid-Season Review
Posted 2/3/2012
The Edmonton Oilers are yet again sitting in the cellar of the Northwest Division and also considered one of the worst teams in all of hockey.
It would be a lie to say that another rough season from Edmonton wasn't expected, but players, coaches and fans all felt as though there would be some significant improvement this year. Edmonton has the Columbus Blue Jackets to thank for saving them from the distinction as the worst team in the league.
Then again, things might not be as bad as they may appear after a closer look. While they have a negative goal differential of 20, three teams way ahead of them in the division have similar problems.
The Oilers certainly aren't making any second-half playoff push, but it's important that they show improvement from the first three months of the season. They have been absolutely awful away from home, so playing better on the road would be an easy area for improvement.
