Dallas Stars 2011-12 Mid-Season Review
Posted 2/3/2012
The Dallas Stars are hanging tough in the Pacific Division through the first half of season, currently sitting in third place behind the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings.
The Stars are four games above .500 on the season despite having a negative 10 goal differential. If the playoffs were to start today, Dallas would not be a part of them. However, the Stars are well within striking distance for a postseason berth with plenty of time to make up ground.
In the past two seasons, Dallas has struggled coming out of the All-Star break and it has ultimately cost them a playoff spot both times. The players aren't dwelling on their past struggles, though, believing that this is a different team and a different season. I guess we will find out if that is the case soon enough.
The Western Conference is very competitive when it comes to trying to fight for a playoff spot, and Dallas does not have history on its side with the way they have played down the stretch the past two seasons. Until they prove otherwise, expect more of the same from the Stars.
