Columbus Blue Jackets 09-10 Season Wrap Up
Posted 4/21/2010
The Columbus Blue Jackets finished second to last in the Western Conference and were never in the playoff race.
The Blue Jackets finished well above the .500 mark on home ice but had a terrible record on the road.
Trying to finish the season on a positive note, the Blue Jackets lost a tough 1-0 decision to the surging Detroit Red Wings. While it wasn't a victory, it wasn't a bad way to end a rough season.
The Blue Jackets do have a star to build around in Rick Nash, who led the team with 67 points. He had never as many goals as assists and is a major headache for opposing defenders.
Goaltenders Steve Mason and Mathieu Garon both saw significant time in the net. Garon, despite getting only slightly more than half the number of starts as Mason, finished out the year with a better record, save percentage and goals against average.
Heading into next season, Columbus' first big decision will have to do with which goaltender deserves the starting job.
