Colorado Avalanche 2010-11 Season Preview
Posted 9/28/2010
The Colorado Avalanche shocked a lot of people last season when they were able to sneak into the Western Conference playoffs as the final seed despite preseason predictions that they would be one of the worst teams in the NHL.
Colorado opted to keep things quiet in the offseason as they failed to bring in any significant players. Instead, the organization is confident that the younger players will continue their progress in the upcoming season.
The Avalanche received outstanding goaltending from Craig Anderson, who will look to be even better in 2010-2011. He was solid in the playoffs and hopes to avoid a sophomore slump as the team's starting goalie.
Anderson was tired of the backup goalie job in Florida, so he came to Colorado with the mindset that he was going to win the starting job.
He definitely has the attitude necessary to be a winner in the NHL.
Ryan O' Reilly could be set for a breakout season. He has targeted this year as his coming out party, and a significant increase in goals would do wonders for the Avalance offensive attack.
Colorado probably isn't going to take a big step forward this year. A slight improvement or just repeating last year's success would be a good sign from this still young and inexperienced team.
