Chicago Blackhawks 2010-11 Season Preview
Posted 9/28/2010
The Chicago Blackhawks finally made their way back to the top of the hockey world by winning last year's Stanley Cup in dramatic fashion.

While it was a tremendous moment for the city of Chicago, it's quite possible it's one that will repeat itself sometime in the near future. For Blackhawks fans, they hope that's sooner rather than later.

The one problem with winning the Stanley Cup is that suddenly all of the players see their value rise, meaning it's much more expensive for the team try and re-sign them all to keep the core together.

The team lost several players in the offseason, leading some to believe that the Blackhawks, while still very good, aren't as talented as the Stanley Cup squad.

Goaltender Antti Niemi is one of the players who wasn't re-signed in the offseason, meaning the Blackhawks will have to hope that Marty Turco is capable of starting most games in the upcoming season.

One guy who is back is Patrick Kane, one of the top scorers in the Western Conference. He should only continue to improve over the next few years as he begins to enter his prime.

Chicago will certainly have a big target on its back this year as the Stanley Cup champion, and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to relish in the role of "the hunted" or not.
