Final Four

News and Information
If it's March, that can only mean one thing for college basketball enthusiasts across the country: The Madness is here!

March Madness is by far the most exciting event in all of sports. From the upsets to the Final Four to crowning the national champion, the NCAA tournament is what sports are all about.

Last year was one of the most exciting Final Fours in recent memory. Four top teams reached the pinnacle of the sport, which is pretty rare. It provided for some of the most competitive basketball at the Final Four in quite some time.

That led to what has to be one of the greatest national championship games ever played, as Kansas rallied from a late deficit to tie the game on a three-point shot with just seconds remaining. They then controlled the overtime session and were crowned the 2008 national champions.

While the Jayhawks lost a number of top players from last year's title team, they will make the NCAA tournament this year and enter as a decent seed looking to defend their national championship.

The heavy favorite to win the national championship heading into the season was the North Carolina Tar Heels, and they are still one of the prime contenders.

However, as the season has progressed, a number of other contenders has emerged. The most notable is Connecticut, which has won two national championships in the past decade and could be the new favorite.

Many would love to see a matchup of North Carolina and Connecticut in the national championship game, as it would feature two of the best centers in the game going head-to-head in Hasheem Thabeet and Tyler Hansbrough.

Pittsburgh, Oklahoma, Duke, UCLA, Louisville, Michigan State, Wake Forest and a host of others have emerged as teams that could challenge for a national title despite some significant flaws.

No matter who ends up reaching the Final Four, this should be yet another incredibly exciting tournament.

Don't miss out on your chance to see the greatest event in all of sports. Plenty of great seats are available! Get your tickets from Great Seats today!

2008 Final Four article

The 2008 Final Four is fast approaching and it will be hard-pressed to top last year's culmination of the college basketball season, which resulted in a historical moment not often see in the sport..

The 2007 Final Four saw the Florida Gators become the first back-to-back national champions since Duke accomplished the same feat in 1991 and 1992. All of the team's underclassmen returned for another season and were rewarded by hoisting the championship trophy into the air for the second year in a row.

The Gators cruised past the UCLA Bruins for the second consecutive year to reach the national championship game, where they met the Ohio State Buckeyes, who slipped past Georgetown.

Florida then rather easily disposed of the Buckeyes and talented center Greg Oden, who simply couldn't do enough to single-handedly keep his team in the game.

Looking ahead to this year, the Final Four will take place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on April 5 and 7. Tickets are already all sold out in anticipation of another terrific weekend of championship basketball, so be sure to check out availability on Great Seats.

This year's NCAA tournament field will be wide open so it really is almost a complete tossup on who might end up in the Final Four. The underclassmen from Florida all decided to make the leap to the NBA, as did Oden, leaving both teams decimated and creating a wide open field for 2008.

Undefeated Memphis certainly seems like a strong possibility while North Carolina, Duke, Tennessee, UCLA, Georgetown and Kansas all seem poised for a deep run in the tournament.

Or maybe mid major teams like Butler and Drake will crash the party and prove once again that any team with some talent and a lot of heart can catch fire in March and make things exciting.

That's the best part about March and the madness that comes with it. Crazy things can happen, and every once in awhile you get a tremendous Final Four like we saw in 2007.
