The Washington Wizards are coming off yet another trying year, but there is hope that things are going to be different in this lockout shortened season.
For one, the Wizards showed some life toward the end of last year, especially Andray Blatche, who has been often criticized by fans and media alike.
The Wizards picked up some quality players in the draft, although it's fair to say that they were a bit unfortunate not to land a better overall pick.
Still, they picked up Jan Vesely, who may or may not help them this year. Chris Singleton is a rookie who should come in and help right away, particularly on the defensive end.
The Wizards hope that JaVale McGee continues to improve, as does Jordan Crawford, an explosive scorer who is anything but shy about shooting the ball. Crawford was fantastic filling in for John Wall at point guard last year when the star rookie was out with an injury.
Washington should at least challenge for a playoff spot this year, but in an increasingly competitive Eastern Conference, they still might be a player or two and a year away from reaching postseason play. But Washington is ready to make room for another winning team in town.
