Toronto Raptors 2010-11 Mid-Season Review
Posted 1/25/2011
The Toronto Raptors are certainly missing Chris Bosh as they stumble out of the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Thanks for the Nets, the Raptors have been able to avoid last place in the Atlantic Division, but not by much. All of that is subject to change in the second half of the season.
The roster doesn't have one star player, and even lacks many quality veterans. There is some young talent that gives a bit of hope for the future, but it certainly doesn't overwhelm any scouts.
Andrea Bargnani leads the team in scoring almost by default, averaging over 21 points per game. DeMar DeRozan is one of the young guys to get excited about, and he is averaging 15 points per contest.
Jarret Jack and Jose Calderon have split time at the point guard position, but neither has been all that effective. The team traded away T.J. Ford because they were so enthralled with Calderon, but that hasn't worked out for anyone.
It's hard to see the Raptors making a playoff push, but hardly anyone is out of the Eastern Conference race just halfway through the season. If some of the younger players steadily improve, maybe they can grab the final playoff spot.
