San Antonio Spurs 2010 Playoffs Preview The San Antonio Spurs are in the playoffs yet again, but age and injuries may finally be catching up with this team.

In the past, the Spurs have gotten off to a sluggish start in the regular season, raising alarm, only to pick it up in the second half of the year and finish with one of the best records in the league.

The Spurs started off slowly this year, but they never really got to the point where they could be considered one of the best teams in the Western Conference. It's true that only a handful of games separate the Spurs from the best teams in the West, but the play on the court was the telling sign.

Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili both missed time this year with injuries while Tim Duncan's age is finally starting to show. Duncan has never been a dominant player that takes over games, but he seems like even less of a scoring threat than usual.

That said, anybody who takes the Spurs lightly is playing with fire. They are as tough as anybody come playoff time and still want to show they have another couple of title runs left in them.

San Antonio still plays tenacious defense and is a very well-coached basketball team. They have a ton of playoff experience, and that will serve them well over the coming weeks.

If Duncan, Ginobili and Parker are all 100 percent and well-rested coming into the playoffs, they should have enough gas in the tank to push all the way to the NBA Finals. Whether they can actually get there despite playing three straight series on the road is another question.

Maybe if the Spurs make an early exit from the playoffs this year, the declaration can finally be made that they are beginning their slow descent from the top of the mountain.

Until that happens, overlook this team at your own peril.
