San Antonio Spurs 2011-12 Season Preview
Posted 12/21/2011
The San Antonio Spurs saw their level of play drop significantly last year, and though they still managed to make the playoffs, many believe it was the beginning of the end for their title run.

While the Spurs came up short last year, it doesn't seem like the team is ready to throw in the towel and start rebuilding quite yet. This year's group will once again be built around Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili.

One bright spot last year was the play of Gary Neal, who gave the team a real surge of energy coming off the bench. The Spurs were also very high on point guard George Hill, which is why it was so surprising to see him traded for point guard T.J. Ford. Hill was one reason why the team was shopping Parker to see what they might be able to get for him.

While the Spurs aren't likely to fall completely off the map, it's also hard to see them making a serious run at another NBA title. They still play very well together and the defense is terrific, but injuries seem to bite Parker and Ginobili far too frequently and Duncan isn't getting any younger. That being said, fans can still bank on experience to win out often enough to keep games worth watching.
