San Antonio Spurs 2010-11 Mid-Season Review
Posted 1/26/2011
The San Antonio Spurs have forced critics to hold on writing their obituary with phenomenal first half to the season.

Written off as an aging team that was on its last legs, the Spurs have come out and played some of their best basketball in years. They sit atop the Southwest Division with the best record in the NBA and are well on their way to the top seed in the postseason.

It's hard to put a finger on the exact reason for improvement, but having a healthy Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker certainly helps. Tim Duncan, while not quite as productive as in the past, is still a force.

Another factor is the addition of some quality young players who have brought some much needed energy to both ends of the court. George Hill, Gary Neal, DeJuan Blair and James Anderson have all made contributions.

While injuries and age could cause San Antonio to fade down the stretch, the solid play from youngsters off the bench has allowed them to guard against that somewhat.

If the Spurs can get to the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, they could very well end up winning another NBA championship.
