Sacramento Kings 2011-12 Season Preview
Posted 12/21/2011
The Sacramento Kings decided to stay put for at least one more season, which was even more surprising than the length of the NBA lockout.
The Kings seemed set on moving to Anaheim, but are giving Sacramento one last chance to come through on funding for a new arena. Unfortunately for the team, that just means another season of off-court distractions as to whether or not the team will relocate next season and exactly where they will play.
DeMarcus Cousins had a solid rookie season, but the discipline and behavioral problems that caused many scouts concern during his days at Kentucky have reared their ugly head in the NBA. It also doesn't help that he plays alongside Tyreke Evans, a supremely talented player but another headcase.
Sacramento selected Jimmer Fredette in this year's draft, which should at least raise the interest level of fans for a little while. It will be interesting to see how he is able to fit in with his teammates. This Kings squad has been virtually thrown together without any thought as to team chemistry.
The outlook for Sacremento is not a good one, whether it be the wins and losses on the court or the chances of sticking around in the future. They will likely be one of the worst teams in the NBA, and that won't do anything to help keep the team in what was once a great basketball city.
