Phoenix Suns 2010-11 Mid-Season Review
Posted 1/26/2011
The Phoenix Suns are in second place in the Pacific Division, but their under .500 record indicates the kind of team they really have this year.

The Suns have suffered greatly from decision made by their front office in recent years to let certain players walk via free agency or trade away certain guys.

Point guard Steve Nash is still playing at a very high level, but he is one of the only players left from those great Suns' teams of the past decade. He is averaging over 17 points and 11 assists per game.

Grant Hill is still humming along, but his role is much too great on this team. Hill is a phenomenal role player on a contender, but not a guy that should be counted on for major contributions, and that's the case right now.

The Suns made a trade in the first half of the season, dealing away leading scorer Jason Richardson for Vince Carter and Mickael Pietrus. Pietrus definitely added to the pot, but Richardson is a much better player than Carter at this point in their respective careers.

Phoenix could always make a second half push and get into the playoffs, and it would just be weird if Steve Nash was sitting at home come May. That said, the Suns face an uphill battle and will probably miss out on the postseason.
