Philadelphia 76ers 2009 Season Update

The Philadelphia 76ers have been given a big boost with the signing of Allen Iverson, which has also meant a major bump in ticket sales for the team.
Fans are flocking to the Wachovia Center to get another look at a former superstar who was beloved in the City of Brotherly Love.
Unfortunately, their record hasn't seen much of a boost, and the team is slipping further and further out of the playoff picture. That's not a good sign, but at least their is plenty of time left to turn things around.
It remains to be seen just exactly how much Iverson has remaining in the tank and just how he will fit in with the rest of his teammates.
He is barely taking 10 shots per game, so he seems more than happy to try and fit in and do whatever he can to help the Sixers win.
The team hired head coach Eddie Jordan in the offseason, but the move has brought about the same amount of success as it did in Washington.
You have to wonder when teams will stop giving this guy a job.
It also doesn't help that the team sunk a bunch of its money into Elton Brand only to see the forward struggle mightily returning from knee surgery. Brand has been better this year and shown signs of his old self, but he may never been the same player again.
Andre Iguodala has clearly taken over as the leader of the team and the face of the franchise. He is averaging nearly 20 points per game to go along with more than five assists, leading the team in both categories.
Surprisingly, Louis Williams has emerged on the scene as the team's second leading scorer at over 16 points a game. Williams has missed some time due to injury though, which is part of the reason while the team signed Iverson.
Thaddeus Young and Marreese Speights are two other youngsters who have been major factors for the Sixers and should be a big part of their future.
The Sixers have two talented veterans who should be able to carry them to the playoffs, but has the team dug itself too deep of a hole? Only time will tell.
