Orlando Magic 2010-11 Mid-Season Review
Posted 1/25/2011
The Orlando Magic got off to a sluggish start out of the gate and made a bold move, trading away key pieces of their team and restructuring on the fly.
The Magic felt they couldn't overtake the Boston Celtics or Miami Heat with their current roster, so they traded away Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis in separate deals for Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu and Gilbert Arenas.
The team remains stuck in third place in the Southeast Division, which is certainly not where they had hoped to be. However, the organization remains confident that they will make a run at the division title once the new pieces gain some chemistry with the core of the team.
Dwight Howard remains the backbone of this team, as he is one of the few players who is a threat on both ends of the floor. His offensive game still needs polish, but he is an automatic double-double each night.
The Magic have added a lot of three-point shooting to their roster, which has helped to open up things even more on the inside for Howard. He now needs to take his offensive game to another level.
While the Magic seem somewhat lost at the moment, they will be a major factor in the Eastern Conference playoffs. They might fall short again, but they will certainly make some noise.
