New York Knicks 2011 Playoffs Preview The New York Knicks are finally back on the map after a big offseason addition and a huge midseason trade helped to bolster their roster.

The Knicks signed Amare Stoudemire to a huge deal in the offseason while letting David Lee sign elsewhere, a decision that sent a lot of criticism their way. Stoudemire became a more complete player and one of the top centers in the NBA while Lee has disappointed with Golden State, proving it was a shrewd move thus far.

Looking to add a key piece that could put them over the top, the Knicks took a risk and traded for All-Star Carmelo Anthony. The move also brought them veteran point guard Chauncy Billups, an underrated pick-up in the deal.

The addition of the two players initially sparked the Knicks, but the team has been inconsistent since that time. Anthony said that he thinks it will take the team until next year to jell, which brought on criticism from the media and certainly didn't make fans or the organization very happy.

Anthony has been criticized for his lack of effort on the defensive end of the floor, but the bottom line is that he is a winner. He is especially clutch in crunch time when his team needs a basket, and that could really come in handy in the playoffs.

The Knicks have a decent first-round draw, getting a Boston Celtics team that has really faded down the stretch. It seems unlikely that the Knicks could get past the Celtics, but

That being said, the Knicks are a dangerous playoff team that could do some significant damage. They have two star players and a quality point guard, and that will give even the top teams in the NBA reason for concern.
