New York Knicks

News and Information
The New York Knicks came into the season with renewed hope, as much-maligned general manager Isiah Thomas was finally shown the door and the team was able to sign head coach Mike D' Antoni.

D' Antoni is a breath of fresh air for New York and has given the long suffering fans at least some reason to watch their team again.

With a mesh of players that don't exactly fit D' Antoni's system, he has done his best to make the team exciting with his brand of basketball.

One of the first things D' Antoni did as head coach of the Knicks was to try and change the culture surrounding the team. His first step was essentially kicking disgruntled point guard Stephon Marbury off of the team.

D' Antoni considered Marbury a cancer who would try to ruin anything and everything he tried to implement. Marbury hasn't played at all this year and is still hoping for a buyout so he can go join a contender.

The Knicks are not willing to give him the buyout, decided they would rather pay him his full contract than give him most of it and then watch him have a chance to win a championship with a rival team.

Forward Eddy Curry has missed most of the season with injuries, but the fact he is not in the physical shape that D' Antoni wants to see has also not helped his cause. The coach runs his team running up and down the floor, but Curry has some weight to lose before he is able to do that.

Point guard Chris Duhon signed with the Knicks in the offseason and has flourished in D' Antoni's system. He is averaging 12.5 points and 8 assists per game.

The team made a trade for disgrunted forward Al Harrington, a move that actually made a lot of sense. Harrington has become a featured part of the offense and a significant piece of the rebuilding team.

He is averaging over 21 points per game, though the team would like to see him collect more than 6 rebounds per night.

It's going to be a tough second half of the season for the Knicks, but at least Marbury will be gone and off the books once it all ends.
