New Jersey Nets 2011-12 Season Preview
Posted 12/21/2011
The New Jersey Nets are set to make their highly anticipated move to Brooklyn and into the new Barclays Center next year. In the meantime, they are trying to ramp up their roster to make sure a competitive team is on the floor to coincide with the relocation.

The Nets made their big splash last year when they swung a trade for Deron Williams, one of the best point guards in the NBA. It was a risky move because Williams is now heading into the last year of his contract and there is no guarantee he will want to remain with the Nets.

New Jersey has been busy trying to acquire as many quality players as possible to help convince Williams they will quickly become a title contender so he should re-sign with the team.

If nothing else, the Nets have a quality low-post presence in Brook Lopez, who averaged over 20 points per game last year.

One player to keep an eye on is rookie guard Marshon Brooks, who was a big-time scorer at Providence, and could be one of the pleasant surprises out of the draft. Some compared Brooks game to Kobe Bryant's, which is obviously an exaggeration but still certainly worth noting.

New Jersey is still probably a year away from competing for a playoff berth, but if Deron Williams has a great season, he could carry them to the postseason. The team has built it, so the fans must come!
