Miami Heat 2010 Playoffs Preview
Posted 4/15/2010
Thanks to the Dwayne Wade show, the Miami Heat finished in third place in the Southeast Division and grabbed the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. That sets up a very intriguing first-round matchup with the Boston Celtics, who are just two years removed from an NBA title.
Wade leads the team with more than 26 points and six assists per game and is essentially a one-man wrecking crew. There are few players in basketball that mean more to their team than Wade.
Michael Beasley and Jermaine O' Neal are the second and third leading scorers on the team, which is a scary thought for a playoff squad.
Beasley has made huge strides in both his game and maturation off the court since a disappointing rookie season, but he still isn't ready to be a top scorer on a legitimate playoff team.
O' Neal has been a terrible disappointment since coming over from the Indiana Pacers and his career is quickly winding down. The Celtics should have no problems shutting him down.
The Heat also lack a star point guard, as Rafer Alston, Mario Chalmers and Carlos Arroyo have really failed to get the job done.
The Celtics are a veteran-laden team that seems to be in transition, as their big three are now ceeding power to start point guard Rajon Rondo. This series is going to come down to whether or not Wade can put the Heat on his back and carry them to three wins. If Wade gets hot and can't be stopped, he could cause a first-round upset. If the Celtics can slow him down, it's going to be a quick exit for Miami.
