Miami Heat 2009 Season Update The Miami Heat are sitting in third place in the Southeast Division behind the Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks.

The team has some tough luck, as they are certainly playing in the top division in the Eastern Conference.

This is clearly Dwyane Wade's team, as the guard leads the club with more than 26 points and six assists per game. He is one of the only players in the NBA that can single-handedly lift a team to victory night after night.

He is starting to get some help around him thanks to the emergence and maturity of Michael Beasley.

Beasley is averaging nearly 16 points a game and also grabbing his share of rebounds. Hopefully for the forward and the team, he has gotten past some of the off-the-court issues that were plaguing him.

Jermaine O' Neal pledged that he was going to return to his old form, but it hasn't happened. He is playing much better, averaging more than
13 points per game, but still not the same guy he once was.

The team has a number of other guys who are solid contributors in Udonis Haslem, Quentin Richardson, Mario Chalmers and Daquan Cook. A couple of those guys are still young and should show improvement between now and the end of the season.

Miami could use a legitimate low post scorer to help out O' Neal and Haslem and also needs to find some better shooters. Richardson is their only true three-point shooting threat, which allows the defense to hang out closer to the paint.

Wade has the ability to put the team on his back and try to carry them as far as he can, but he doesn't have another star player than can help him out.

The Heat should have no problems making the playoffs, but will likely be facing a higher seed when the postseason rolls around. That very likely means a quick exit, and Wade could be gone not long thereafter.
