Memphis Grizzlies 09-10 Season Wrap Up
Posted 4/21/2010
The Memphis Grizzlies surprised many by finishing the season right at the .500 mark despite their rebuilding effort.

To achieve such a solid record in the extremely competitive Western Conference is no small task and the team should be credited with working hard to improve.

Zach Randolph was expected to cause serious team chemistry issues after coming over from the New York Knicks, but instead has emerged as a consistent scoring and rebounding threat. He has also been a model citizen and teammate, so maybe the light bulb finally went off for him.

Rudy Gay finished the season averaging just under 20 points per game, but he is set to become a free agent. He will likely end up with another team next year that is willing to pay him big money.

Point guard Mike Conley also continues to develop and lead the team in assists. The jury is still out on whether or not Conley will ever turn into the player they thought they had drafted a few years ago.

It was a pretty successful season for the Grizzlies in light of the Allen Iverson saga. Iverson played just a few games for Memphis before announcing his retirement, which was one way to get out of the contract. He then return weeks later with the Philadephia 76ers.
