Los Angeles Lakers 2010-11 Mid-Season Review
Posted 1/26/2011
The Los Angeles Lakers are back to defend another NBA championship, and it's proven to be a challenge over the first half of the season.
The Lakers sit atop the Pacific Division with a comfortable lead and own one of the NBA's top records.
However, they have fallen several games behind the San Antonio Spurs in the race for homecourt advantage in the playoffs, and they have had their share of tough moments in the first half.
Complacency and motivation could be an issue for the Lakers, who would rather skip the regular season and just jump right into the playoffs.
Kobe Bryant is coming off of offseason knee surgery, and while he is still playing a very high level, his play has slipped. Even Bryant recent admitted that he is probably already a little past his prime.
No matter what happens the rest of the way, the Lakers will be there in the end. They are the favorite to win the Western Conference and the NBA title, though that's not to say they are unbeatable.
