Indiana Pacers 2011 Playoffs Preview
Posted 4/14/2011
The Indiana Pacers were consistenly inconsistent this year, but managed to reach the playoffs almost by default.

After the top seven teams in the Eastern Conference, there was a huge drop-off. The Pacers certainly aren't complaining, as they proved to be the beneficiary by grabbing the final playoff spot.

Indiana's reward is a showdown with the top seed Chicago Bulls in the first round. Good luck with that.

The Pacers simply don't have the horses to stay with a team as talented as the Bulls. They have no one that can slow down Derrick Rose, and Roy Hibbert and Tyler Hansbrough cannot contain Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah.

There is some thought that Darren Collison, a quality defender, might be able to really bother Rose. I'm a big Collison fan, but Rose is much too strong and quick for Collison to lock down for an entire game.

Danny Granger provides their only hope, but he isn't a superstar, just a very good player. He isn't the type to take over games, which is what the Pacers need to have any chance in this series.

This is going to be a very short postseason stay for Indiana. I would advise they not get too comfortable. If they can steal one game from Chicago in the series, it would have to be deemed a successful playoff run.
