Indiana Pacers 2010-11 Mid-Season Review
Posted 1/25/2011
The Indiana Pacers have taken advantage of a poor division to put a stranglehold on second place behind the Chicago Bulls.
There's nothing quite like being several games below the .500 mark and still being near the top of the division and right in the playoff hunt. Man, it must feel good to play in the Central Division and Eastern Conference.
The one big bright spot on the Pacers is Darren Collison, who has turned into the point guard they have so desperately needed for so long. He has forced T.J. Ford to the bench, and the switch had paid dividends.
Collison is averaging over 14 points and four assists per game on a team that, outside of Danny Granger, really doesn't have a lot of scoring threats. Even Granger isn't playing quite as well this year, as perhaps the constant losing is starting to get to him.
Roy Hibbert is averaging over 12 points and eight rebounds per contest and is another young piece to the puzzle. While Hibbert is a quality player, he will never be the go-to scorer the Pacers desperately need.
Indiana doesn't have a lot of impact players, but they still might find their way into the playoffs anyway. Nonetheless, this team is still in the midst of rebuilding its roster, so expectations are low.
