Houston Rockets 09-10 Season Wrap Up
Posted 4/21/2010
For the Houston Rockets, playing without Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady finally caught up to them in the competitive Western Conference.
It's not as though the Rockets completely collapsed. They didn't. In fact, they finished in ninth place in the ultra-competitive Western Conference, but the top eight teams were just in a class of their own.
Houston has been impressed with the play of Aaron Brooks at the point guard position. He looks like he could be the team's answer at the position for many years to come.
Players such as Jordan Hill and Chase Buddinger have also shown some flashes and could be at least solid reserves.
The Rockets did make a big trade in the middle of the season, picking up All-Star shooting guard Kevin Martin from the Sacramento Kings. Martin gives the Rockets instant offense, something they really need.
The team also traded away Tracy McGrady and his huge contract to the New York Knicks and can now move on from that saga.
Houston is optimistic that Ming can return next year 100 percent healthy, which means the Rockets should once again be a contender in the Western Conference.
