Houston Rockets 2010-11 Mid-Season Review
Posted 1/26/2011
The Houston Rockets have struggled with injuries and consistency as they sit just below the .500 mark.
Kevin Martin has proven to be a solid pickup, and the shooting guard is averaging over 23 points per game. However, Martin isn't a great defender and does not rack up a lot of rebounds or assists, making him a one-trick pony.
The team is obviously dealing with the disappointment of losing Yao Ming for the remainder of the season. He was a shell of his former self, averaging just 10 points and five rebounds per game, but it was still better than nothing.
The point guard play has also slipped from last season. Aaron Brooks and Kyle Lowry seemed to be locked in last year, but haven't had the same results in 2010-2011.
There is a fair amount of talent on this team, but it doesn't seem like there are enough minutes to around for everyone. It's causing chemistry problems, and the Rockets appear headed nowhere fast.
The Rockets are in fourth place in the Southwest Division and are going to face an uphill climb in the second half of the season. A trip to the playoffs seems unlikely at this point, but Houston is still holding out hope.
