Golden State Warriors 09-10 Season Wrap Up
Posted 4/21/2010
The one big bright spot on the season for the Golden State Warriors was point guard Stephen Curry, who emerged as one of the top rookies in the NBA.
The Warriors were smart in the way they used Curry, bringing him along slowly and limiting his minutes early in the season. As the season progressed, Curry saw more and more playing time.
The result was a seasoned point guard who looked like a star in the making by the end of the season. Not only was Curry knocking down his usual shots, but he was racking up the assists, too.
Many are beginning to compare his game to Steve Nash, which would be quite a coup for the Warriors. He really fits in well to head coach Don Nelson's up-tempo style and should be a star for years to come.
One of the other big accomplishments of the season was trading away shooting guard Stephen Jackson. Jackson fit well into the team's style, but he was a major distraction on and off the court. Once he started demanding a trade and saying he didn't like his head coach, it was time for him to go.
Now the big question remains whether or not Nelson will return to the Warriors next season. He has made it known he plans to coach out his contract, but retirement seems like a yearly possibility with him.
