Golden State Warriors 2011-12 Season Preview
The Golden State Warriors are a fun team to watch because of their run and gun offensive philosophy, but wins remain hard to come by for this group.
The Warriors feature two studs at guard with Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry leading the way. While the two stars would seem to fight over who has the ball in their hands, they are actually great completements to each other. Ellis excels at attacking the basket while Curry is a tremendous outside shooter.
The team signed David Lee last offseason, hoping he could become the rebounding and defensive force he was with the New York Knicks. He ended up being just a major disappointment, though the team holds out hope he bounces back this year as he adjusts to his new home.
After those three players, talent and experience fall off significantly. The team has high hopes for last year's first-round pick, Ekpe Udoh, who lead the team in blocks in his rookie season but otherwise wasn't much of a factor. He only scored four points and grabbed three rebounds per game.
It's hard to see Golden State making the playoffs this year, which isn't exactly anything new to the fanbase. They will continue to play high-scoring, exciting games, but often come up on the short end. Until the team stockpiles more talent and improves on the defensive end, it will be the same old story. Still, they are a fun team to watch.
